Me And Music

People always ask me what kind of music i listen to and i am unable to answer. why? well look at the list over there on the right. what kind of music do i listen to?

and remember that this is only a sample. this list is just that one song that i can't stop playing for a week or two. of course at the moment i have a rare 4 songs as that one song i can't stop playing in my car... but that's another story... i have a 12 disk changer in my car that i constantly keep on random so i have to keep it varied to keep myself interested...

i think my problem is i don't listen to "music" as a catagory. i listen to good music. if i think a song is good i will listen to it, whether it be rap, blue grass, country, emo, folk, oldies, or just plain rock... i will listen to it. i've even been known to listen to polka and christian music...

I love making that list though, because i can watch my progression of favorite songs. the song usually shows up on the list only because i have been listening to it in my car. in my car i can turn it up loud enough that i can actually "hear" it... there may be something wrong with me because i cant really understand what i'm hearing unless there are vibrations or visuals to go along with what i'm hearing. i can't hear u if you aren't loud enough or you don't look at me so i can read your lips as well. i can't hear music unless it's loud enough that i can feel the vibrations...

and i've learned to determine the different vibrations for different instruments... and i find myself turning the music down when i'm going down a bad road because there are new unpredictible vibrations and it makes the song "sound" funny to me.

why is it that all of my favorite mix cd's have been lost or destroyed...

and all i'm left with are the crappy cds when i make a deal with my buddy to trade our favorite mix cds.

he's got his all ready to give to me, but i can't find a single one that i like!!!

Shawn Mullins Is Hot! pt 2

He was freaking amazing!!!

he played 9 of the most beautiful songs in the entire world. he played lullabye and shimmer (though he cut out one verse of shimmer) and i was kind of hoping not to hear those because of the amount that they have been overplayed... but hearing them live was just fantastic.

and there were like... 40-60 people there... if that...

it was this little venue and he got all into it.

josh kelley played first and after he was done he hung out at the bar and watched the rest of the show. now that's cool.

i didn't react too much. i'm not one of those people that gets all excited and whatnot.

i just stood there and grinned from ear to ear for one hour.

one fantastic hour.

Shawn Mullins Is Hot!

Today is the day!

Today is the day that i've been waiting for for roughly 6 years. 6 years! can u imagine.

Today is the day that Shawn Mullins, Gin Blossoms and Josh Kelley are playing at the majestic downtown. And today is the day that i have tickets to see them.

Of course my only real concern is seeing Shawn Mullins. I do enjoy the Gin Blossoms a bit, and i have no idea who josh kelley is, but i'm going.

And for the last week i have deprived myself of Shawn's music because i didn't want to ruin the fun. (last night i cheated and listened to all fall down cuz i was hurting from shawn withdrawl)

it's tough though. yeah i can stop listening to shawn for months at a time, but only because there's other stuff i want to listen to. but to actually ristrict oneself from listening because of a concert... ow!

so that's my day. the dentist today doesn't even scare me because my 6 years of waiting is up!

hooray!!
